Welcome to the World Spirometry Day (WSD) 2012 website. WSD is an awareness campaign that offers people the chance to test their lung health and demonstrates the importance of sport and healthy lungs.

The 2012 campaign coincides with the Olympic Games and aims to encourage people to exercise and look after their lungs regardless of their age or physical ability.

Health professionals around the world organise lung function testing events for the general public, known as spirometry events. Doctors are available at these events to offer further advice and to answer any concerns about lung health.

Some countries may organise spirometry lectures and training sessions to further educate medical professionals, in the hope that they will be better equipped to offer spirometry testing in the future.

This website provides all the resources necessary for health professionals to run a successful lung function testing event. Resources can be downloaded from the Events Toolkit and personalised according to your organisation or country.

If you are interested in taking a lung test, you can locate your nearest event by visiting the Events page. Please note that events will be continually added and we recommend that you regularly check this website for updates on events taking place in your region.

WSD is an initiative organised by the Forum of International Respiratory Societies (FIRS) in collaboration with the European Lung Foundation (ELF).
