Chris Brown-Martin

Chris suffers from alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. He was overcome by fumes in a hotel fire and as he didn’t recover well from the experience, his doctor sent him for blood tests for alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency.

Chris was found to have a specific form of the disease which meant his alpha-1 antitrypsin levels were less than 15% of what they should be. Further tests showed that his sister and mother are also both Alphas.

Chris is a keen kayaker and he has raised money for the Alpha1 Awareness UK charity on kayak-and-cycle events. You can visit his fundraising page for more details.

He has not let his breathing difficulties take over. He lives life to the full, runs a car workshop company with a partner and even manages to raise money for others.
